This is the agressive forum I ever moderated. There are rules to this forum.
Basic rules of the forum
1] This forum must be read and post in English. If you chose to post in another language, your post is deleted.
(Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc. is not supported in Proboards)
2] NO hack requests, please. Look for it at Datacrystal dot org or Rockman Perfect Memories.
3] Don't bump into threads
4] Don't ask the same questons over and over again. This is simliar to this main thread here.
5] This is important to newbies
- Any thread that can easily be answered by reading the program-related readme* will be trashed immediately.
This is to encourage real topics and not utter trash, and also encourage you to really read the help file, as it is quite extensive and very informative if you want to listen.
However, if you see a thread like this, do not go "you idiot it's in the help file"; contact me or Insectduel to close it instead. I don't want this to delve into pointless flaming either.
* If the question involves a ASM program this would be invoked if the answer was in a bunch of sites.
6] This is important to newbies
- If it's a question involving Mega Man level editors and you cannot find or anything covered in the editor (like AI editing, weapons mod, etc.), then I suggest you to get yourself a hex editor.
Modding Rock/Megaman games of the forum
1] You must put your OWN ideas at work.
2] If you're making your own hack as a base, please DO NOT attempt to take other people's work without permission or claim your work as your own without credit. You must ask the author's permission before doing so. This will result in a ban. Chiko has ripped work from many of the Rockman Remodelers without credit. The only exception to this rule are any hacks that were lost and the hacks are no longer in use such as Rockman Z or Rock n' Maxx.
3] Do not ask someone to do the project for you. Chances here are slim to none. Post it in the Team Projects forum instead.
4] If you're using one of their ASM codes in your Mega/Rockman hack. You must credit the original person that used it.
5] Level designs MUST make sense comparing to the original versions. Your hack has a much higher chance of being accepted if the level design is fun. Conversely, if the level design is found to be lacking then a little cutoffness may be enough to push the hack into rejection.
6] If you are going to give feedback about someone's hack, please provide constructive critism and comments! If you are going to say a hack is good or bad, then state why - something like 'very bad hack do better' or 'This hack sucks. You really need to improve' is frowned upon, because you're telling the author nothing. Saying a hack is good is okay but if you're going to be negative, tell the author how he/she could improve and suggest how the hack could be made better. If you have nothing constructive to say, it's best to not type it.
Releasing Rock/Megaman games of the forum
1] Hack releases goes in the Remodeling ROM Releases forum. Any Rockman/Mega Man hack that isn't yours can be discussed here.
2] DO NOT Create an IPS Patch that requires an existing hacked rom. This confuses users with their Rockman Peercast Endless patched with their original peercast game. A warning MUST be told.
3] DO NOT release random IPS Rockman/Megaman ASM patches with no source code provided in public. This easily attracts ROM-Hackers to put their codes mistakenly in their own or redistribution and Japanese people often posted it in their BBS forums. If you want to show it to them, send PM's to it. But seriously, do not waste any IPS ASM patches without source codes to the public.
4] Absoultely no redistributing the original authors IPS patches into your own websites without first asking the author, ESPECIALLY Japanese hacks! If you want to redistribute them. Upload them in your private uploader. But don't claim their projects as your own.
5] If you found an IPS Patch for in progress, by user request, or under construction Rockman/Megaman hacks via Japanese 2ch threads and is not yours, DO NOT ATTEMPT to post videos or redistributing them without the authors permission. Failure to do so will get a 1 week ban.
6] NEW! This rule is similar to #4 but a little different. When you hack another person's hack to completely revamp it, improve the hack, or fix a bug, it should be posted as an Addendum to the original hack, and not the full IPS patch for the original game. Please DO NOT create and release as a full IPS Patch without asking the auhtor first. Instead create the IPS Patch from the original hack and NOT the original game. This Rockman/Mega Man hack is an example. Failure to follow that rule will get a 1 month ban. Continue to disobey the rule the second time will be permabanned.
7] We don't want to see any pointless Rock/Mega Man hacks full of glitches, unfair gameplay, and bugs. Your thread will be immediately trashed.
8] Test your Rock/Megaman hack on all major emulators before releasing. This will ensure that all players, no matter which emulator they are using, can play it without experiencing slowdown or crashes.
9] Warn players ahead of time if mature content is present! You should have a fair grasp on what is mature and what is not.
