Do not submit ROMs.Only IPS files will be accepted. No exceptions. Insectduel's Domain does NOT post anything illegal and also does NOT condone piracy.
Report unauthorized Pre-Patched ROM-HacksIf you feel that your hack is posted unauthorized and even if you didn't post it as a Pre-Patched ROM, then you should contact your ROM Site, not us. We can't handle that kind of situation.
Minor hacks will not be accepted. For example, simply changing Mario's sprite to Link, and nothing else. Obvious level edits are not accepted as well, make the game your own game instead of simply editing around the original levels and calling it your own.
Only completed hacks acceptedInsectduel's Domain only accept completed hacks. No exceptions. However, hacks submitted to me such as Rockman Z, Megaman Ultra 2, or Pokémon liquid crystal will not be accepted unless the authors completed it.
Keep in mind that Insectduel can only host his own demo/beta hacks into Insect's hacks section.
NOTE: Please keep in mind that completed SMW Hacks unless it's the high-rated hack will not be accepted to Insectduel's Domain. Instead, host it to SMW Central.
Unauthorized hostingInsectduel is aware that your hacks is submitted without your permission. Because your hack is so good and enjoyable, that's the whole reason why I post your hack without permission.
If you don't your hack on display in the "Hosted Hacks" section, feel free to contact me to remove it at your request.
Touhoumon is no longer acceptedDue to the fact that people hosting different Touhoumon patches, all patches will no longer accepted to Insectduel's Domain unless you have proof from the original author.
Use ScreenshotsSubmit a few screenshots to show off your hack's best features. This will also attract more attention towards it.
YouTube VideosYour hack via YouTube video must not be fake. Trust me, If you posted your hack via YouTube and nothing matches it to the actual game, then your hack is rejected. Add screenshots to include it as well. Your YouTube video
MUST be clean for viewers to watch.
Your video's codec must be lossless by DivX or Xvid unless you reduce the size by converting .avi to .wmv by Windows Movie Maker from the Full-Frames Codec.
Put yourself in the player's shoes.Play your game, and ask yourself. Do you think it's fun? Too hard? Too easy? What could be improved? Try pretending it isn't your hack, and criticize it like everyone else world.
GlitchesHacks that crash or damage gameplay will be rejected. Authors should be encouraged to test their games and observe every detail. Authors should even hire beta testers, because there's always a chance the author missed a thing or two. If the entire game is a glitchfest, but doesn't crash or ruin gameplay, it probably won't be accepted either. It simply makes your hack look better if you get rid as many as you can.
Tool Assistance hacks not allowedIf your hack is tool-assistant that require players to reach certain area by glitches or bug effects will not be accepted. Speed run hacks without glitches would proberly be ok.
Make sure your hack makes sense![/size]
In Super Mario World, don't put two coins in the air that are impossible for Mario to reach. Don't put floating ground, tiles together that aren't meant to be together, and other nonsense, it just looks sloppy. Make your levels and maps presentable.
Hacks should be played through as if they were being played on the console. The player should not be required to abuse save states, rewinds, and other emulator tools to finish the game.
"Mature" Hacks "Mature" ROM Hacks must have a warning, and be more than simple text/graphic changes. Putting the words "f###" and "s###" in every sentence and changing all the sprites to male genitals is not a quality hack, anybody could do that in less than a day.
If your hack meets all of the above, it'll most likely be accepted. If it isn't, please check the Hack Rejection Thread to find out why it wasn't accepted. Feel free to resubmit your hack if you fixed what was wrong with it.
